October is the National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Let's make a difference in the lives of the people who had been abused and neglected by participating in this fundraising event for Tokens of Care, a charitable nonprofit organization, that delivers hope by visiting and providing gifts to people at shelters and at temporary housing.
Based on the 2013 National Census of Domestic Violence in North Carolina "1,146 Victims Served in One Day.
595 domestic violence victims (291 children and 304 adults) found refuge in emergency shelters or transitional housing provided by local domestic violence programs.
551 adults and children received non-residential assistance and services, including counseling, legal advocacy, and children’s support groups."
In Chatham County, NC. 700 to 900 people were victims of domestic violence in 2014.
